As a mother of four children ages 15-22, I know the education system, and the government standards in this country are a challenge. Unfortunately the systems and traditional teachings are stacked against us.
I have seen over the course of my career thousands of people who subscribed to the financial teachings of third parties. They subscribed to the business systems of others that did not benefit them. Go to school, create debt for college (or have your parents leverage their assets to pay for your college), get a job and save to maybe retire someday. Unfortunately for most, someday comes when they are too sick or old to enjoy retirement. People have been trained to pay third parties, and let them make money with your money. What it resulted in was debt, stress, working without reward. Retirement where the older adults have to reduce their budget to make ends meet or they have to move in with family to survive (they are now called "Silver Squatters"). Struggling to make ends meet and a life without reward.
It is not totally the result of inflation, but rather a failure in our foundations of education. We were not taught to learn about the systems in place rather we were led to buy into the money making ventures of the wealthy and the institutions they created.
The financial institutions want us to believe in them because they make money when we pay interest on loans so they teach us to make payments instead of getting paid. Why are we not taught to be the bank?
Why are we not taught to start businesses and use the tax code to our advantage just like the most wealthy? Why are we not taught to choose investments that appreciate and cash flow? Rather, why are we taught to buy into a company where the top CEO's make money even though the shareholders lose money? The tax code favors the wealthy and penalizes the middle class family that works for the companies that are benefiting.
